“From a curious accountant to a driven entrepreneur, my journey has been driven by curiosity, shaped by challenges, and empowered by a community committed to creating meaningful change.

I come from a Jain business family, where commerce, finance, and accounting run through the veins. I completed BCom and pursued Chartered Accountancy in India before migrating to Australia in 2001 as an international student. In Australia, I pursued my Master’s in IT, a shift from my audit work in India, where I had always been curious about systems and controls.

Initially, I planned to return to India after my studies, but I built strong friendships and decided to stay a little longer. In 2003, along with two friends, I started my first call centre in Melbourne. It ran successfully for three years in the telecom sector and in 2006, I exited that business and started up into the energy sector, opening our office in Melbourne and offshore centre in Mumbai.

Balancing family life became a priority as my children were born in 2006 and 2008. Running a business became too consuming, and I decided to prioritise time with my family. My wife and I both took jobs in 2011—she as a financial advisor, and I at the ATO. Then I moved to Sage Software (Sydney) where I found my dream job – utilising my IT, sales, and accounting experience. During this time, I also earned my CPA from CPA Australia.

Fast forward to 2021, we saw firsthand the pain and inefficiency in trust accounting, which sparked the idea for TrustEasy. Despite initial setbacks in 2022, we rebuilt TrustEasy and by 2023, TrustEasy was successfully launched, saving many accounting firms 1-2 hours of their valuable time every day. Our efforts in trust accounting were well received. We are now working on expanding the trust accounting software offering to construction industry with the launch of ‘BuildTrust’.

Looking back, I’m grateful for the support I received from my family, friends, clients, and the community. My journey has been filled with challenges, but I’ve learnt that when your intention is to genuinely help, success and happiness follows naturally.” Dinesh Choradiya CPA
